Intra-Party Democracy and Experience Gained During the First Czechoslovak Republic on the Example of the Agrarian Party Abstract and keywords The author investigates the topic of intra-party democracy during the First Czechoslovak Republic. He focuses primarily on the Agrarian Party. To be specific, he examines internal structure of the Agrarian Party and its compliance with the principles of intra-party democracy. He also carries out an analysis of legal environment of the First Republic with respect to the regulation of political parties and evaluates its potential impacts on intra-party democracy of political parties of the time. In Part One of the thesis, the author describes the internal situation in the Agrarian Party. He explores all the areas of the party's activities, namely in the order they are addressed in the organisational rules. The author takes a closer look at the greatest leaders of the party, intra-party disputes or political situation of the party in Slovakia and Carpathian Ruthenia. In chapters dedicated to the Agrarian Party, information is provided to which theoretical concepts are applied by the author later on. This diploma thesis deals with the development of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia during the years 1921-1925, its work in the party-political system of the first Czechoslovak Republic and the elections to the National Assembly, which took place in November 1925, in which it measured forces and popularity against other political parties. This was the first parliamentary election for the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia since its inception. Despite this, it was a huge success, gaining almost one million electoral votes, making it the second strongest party in the whole Czechoslovakia. Greater attention is paid to the internal party disputes that accompanied the party during its development throughout almost all of the 1920s, the Communist Party's attitudes towards the state regime, the methods of spreading Marxist-Leninist ideology during the election campaign and the election results from a communist point of view.

The status of female lawyers as a theme of the Czech Women's Movement during the First Czechoslovak Republic.

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the activities which were carried out by the activist Czech women's movement in the fight for better status of female lawyers in the First republic. The aim of this thesis is to find an answer to the research question "How did the Czech women's movement get involved in the question of the position of female lawyers during the First Republic?" Women were allowed to study at law school within the new republic. After finishing their studies, women wanted to work in the legal professions, which was very difficult despite the fact that women had the equal rights as men thanks to the constitution. Female lawyers were unjustifiably rejected and discriminated against. The Women's National Council, headed by Františka Plamínková and the Association of University-educated Women, tried to solve this situation. Legal department, whose mission was to ensure equal conditions for female lawyers, was established in 1925 within the association . The main goal was to mediate employment of female lawyers in the judicial service and in the conceptual state service. Economic crisis in 1929-1934 and its impact on the Jablonec glass industry with special reference to Železný Brod region

A B S T R A C T This thesis analyzes the impact of the economic crisis in 1929-1934 on the Jablonec glass making with main attention to the district Železný Brod. One of the main causes of decline of the Czechoslovak glass industry in the first half of the 30s of 20th century was formed by pro-export focus. The region of Železný Brod and Jablonec nad Nisou had represented sites with major export, production and refining of glass that were for this reason by the economic crisis strongly affected. Deteriorating economic conditions at the beginning of 30s have resulted in intensified state intervention in industry, including the glass manufacturing as one of the most affected industrial areas. Because mostly cartels had regulatory function in the industry, a number of agreements among the glass producers in Jablonec nad Nisou and Železný Brod area were concluded. This thesis considers with different types of production and refining of the glass in order to offer the complete overview over the glass production in districts Jalonec nad Nisou and Železný Brod. This diploma thesis "Freelance journalist Franta Kocourek" deals with the life and career of Franta Kocourek, the important Czechoslovak journalist in the 20. century. Diploma focuses especially on his working in the press media - prestigious periodicals of the First Czechoslovak Republic weekly magazine Přítomnost and daily newspaper Lidové noviny, not too much successful weekly magazine Groš, leaded by himself, and daily newspaper Slovenský hlas. Kocourek especially had concentrated on reportages, but he was also very universial in styles and issues. He had been writing profound reportages about growing influence of nacism besides surveys about people living at the edge of society, expert studies about the cinemotagraphy or essayes. This diploma describes Kocourek as a omnifarious personality, who had been occupying by literature, movies or public lectures except his working in media. The Media Image of Murder of Otýlie Vranská in the Czech Contemporary Press

The diploma thesis called The Media Image of Murder of Otýlie Vranská in the Czech Contemporary Press is dealing with the analysis of the serious press represented by daily newspaper Národní listy and with the analysis of the tabloid press represented by daily newspaper Expres in the selected period from September 1933 to February 1934. The analysis focuses on the news articles about the murder of Otýlie Vranská. She was murdered on 1st of September 1933, her corpse was quartered and sent to Slovakia in two suitcases − one suitcase was found in Bratislava and second in Košice. Both types of periodicals published 96 articles all together. The diploma thesis is divided into two main parts. Theoretical part, which is focused on definition of the First Czechoslovak Republic's period as well as introducing topics such as criminality and press in the First Czechoslovak Republic. In the end of this chapter there is a presentation of the life and death of Otýlie Vranská from an expert point of view. The second, practical part includes mentioned analysis of the news items, which comes after the definition of the key term: the social construction of reality and the definition of the chosen method: the comparative narrative analysis.
Language of Tabloids in the First Czechoslovak Republic

The aim of this work is to describe the language of several important tabloids in the First Czechoslovak Republic. Firstly, sensationalist journalism is defined by different criteria and is distinguished from serious journalism. The development of sensationalist journalism in Czech lands is outlined and the press in the First Czechoslovak Republic is characterized. Then, selected tabloids are characterized and evaluated according to the defined criteria of tabloids. Language in journalistic texts is put into broader context of journalistic style and is considered on the basis of the influences that affect the choice of the specific language means. One chapter is devoted to formal and language aspects of headlines of the tabloids. The headlines are described on lexical level, morphological level and syntactic level. The language of the tabloids itself is analyzed on the same levels, on the lexical, morphological and syntactic level. The tabloid press in the First Czechoslovak Republic is compared to contemporary tabloid press and some tendencies of the development of the tabloid press are outlined.
Slovak Political Parties in the First Czechoslovak Republic : Analysis of the Program Goals

The bachelor thesis deals with political parties, which operated in the Slovak during the first Czechoslovak Republic. The aim is to analyze the political programs of the parties, namely the programs of Republikánská strana zemědělského a malorolnického lidu, Československá sociálně-demokratická strana dělnická, Komunistická strana Československá, Hlinkova slovenská ľudová strana and Slovenská národná strana. I'm going to analyze how particular requirements, which relate to Slovakia, modified over time, disappeared and appeared in connection with the historical context. I am going to apply the discourse analysis as a research method. I am going to use formal political programs, historical documents as secondary sources and other publications dedicated to this historical period. The main research question will primarily concerned with issues of institutional organizations, competences, government structures, Czechoslovakism or autonomous requirements. I will search for all terms related to these topics in political programs. I will be interested in issues relating to the Slovak question. I will focus on the differences between Slovak and countrywide's political parties. The data will be evaluated and compared to each other in the conclusion.
Cutural and social life in Vsetin during the Czechoslovak first republic

Bachelor's thesis is aimed to cultural and social life in Vsetin between 1918 and 1938. The first chapter describes historical and geographical facts and it interprets social, traffic and building development of the town. The following part shows relationship between town and the First Czechoslovak president T. G. Masaryk. The third chapter deals with a celebration of public holidays and other important days of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The penultimate chapter describes a theatre's production, concerts, lectures, a foundation of museum and public library and it's also focused on sport's activities of the town. The last part explains state of education with accent on formation of high school. All of these individual topics should demonstrate overall character of the town before the World War II.
